Introduction

ADI & PDI what are the differences?

Explore QualDrive’s driving resources designed to support learners. Helpful guides, tips and tools for safer, smarter driving success.

Approved Driving Instructor

An ADI is a fully qualified instructor who has passed all three DVSA tests. They're experienced, DVSA-approved and licensed to teach independently.

Potential Driving Instructor

A PDI is in the final stage of becoming fully qualified. They have already passed their theory and advanced driving tests and are now gaining practical teaching experience ahead of their final Part 3 test.

Do PDIs Charge Less?

No — and here’s why.

PDIs at QualDrive train to the same teaching framework, follow the same syllabus and receive ongoing support from our senior instructor team. This means you benefit from the same level of care, quality and structure, no matter who you learn with.

You’re in Safe Hands

Whether your instructor is a PDI or ADI, you’re learning with someone who is committed, trained and supported to give you the best possible start on the road.
